1. What This Tool Does (and Does Not Do)

VideosToGIF.com is a video-to-GIF converter. The primary function of this website is to provide a browser-based tool that converts video files into animated GIF files. Use the free converter →

Here is exactly what happens when you use the tool:

• You select a video file from your device (MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV, FLV)
• Your browser reads the video file locally using the HTML5 File API - the file is not uploaded anywhere
• The tool renders video frames onto an HTML Canvas element inside your browser
• The open-source gif.js library encodes those frames into an animated GIF file - inside your browser, running on your device's CPU
• Your browser offers the resulting GIF file as a download via a local browser Blob URL

This is a conversion tool, not a file-sharing or file-hosting service. The GIF file you download is created by your own browser from your own video - not fetched from any server or third-party source. We do not host, cache, or store your video or your GIF at any point. 2. Information We Collect

We collect very limited technical information that any web server collects automatically:

Server Access Logs

When you visit this website, our web server automatically records:

• Your IP address (anonymized after 24 hours)
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Pages visited and time of visit
• Referring URL (which site linked you here, if any)

This information is used only for server security monitoring and aggregate traffic analysis. It is not sold, shared, or linked to any personal identity.

What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information (there are no accounts)
• We do not collect your video files
• We do not collect your converted GIF files
• We do not collect any information about the content of your videos

3. Your Video Files and GIF Files

Your video file never leaves your device. When you "upload" a video in our tool, the file is selected from your local storage and read by your browser's File API. No data from that file is transmitted over the internet to any server - ours or anyone else's.

Your converted GIF file is created on your device. The GIF is the output of a conversion process that runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. It is stored temporarily in your browser's memory as a Blob object and offered to you as a download. Once you close or refresh the page, that Blob is discarded. We have no access to it at any point.

Because your files never reach our servers, there is nothing for us to store, share, sell, or delete. Your files are yours, processed on your own device.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies limited to what is necessary for the site to function:

• No tracking cookies are set by VideosToGIF.com itself
• No persistent user profile is built from your visits
• No cross-site tracking is performed

If we use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this site, Google may place cookies on your browser to personalize ads. See Section 5 (Advertising) for details.

5. Advertising

This website may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Important clarifications for the context of this tool:

• This website's primary service is video-to-GIF conversion - a genuinely useful content-processing tool
• The GIF file users download is the output of a conversion they performed in their browser, not a file retrieved from an external or third-party source
• All conversion processing is performed client-side (in the user's browser); no video content passes through our servers

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings or by using the NAI opt-out tool.

6. Third-Party Services

VideosToGIF.com loads one third-party JavaScript library:

• gif.js (via jsDelivr CDN) - an open-source library used to encode animated GIF files in the browser. jsDelivr's privacy policy applies to the CDN request: jsDelivr Privacy Policy

This library runs entirely inside your browser and does not transmit your video or GIF data to any external server.

We do not use any analytics services (no Google Analytics, no Hotjar, no similar tracking tools).

7. Children's Privacy

VideosToGIF.com does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. The tool requires no registration or personal information to use. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information through our contact form, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Because we collect almost no personal data, there is very little to act on. However, you have the right to:

• Request deletion of any personal data we hold (limited to server access logs). Contact us at hello@videostogif.com
• Opt out of personalized advertising from Google via Google's Ads Settings
• Use the tool without cookies by disabling cookies in your browser - core conversion functionality will not be affected

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the GDPR including access, rectification, and portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
